Ashley Beck is a piano teacher who is truly passionate about music and eager to use her own musical skill and experience to foster her students' knowledge. She uses a teaching approach that is both fun and versatile to ensure that her students' receive a solid musical foundation. Her instruction methods include elements of theory, performance, and technique. Before receiving her B.A. from the University of Illinois at Chicago, she studied music at a collegiate level at Illinois Wesleyan University where she received a four year scholarship for Piano Performance and received musical training for a semester in Paris, France at the Schola Cantorum. She was also co-founder and piano accompanist for Illinois Wesleyan's first gospel choir. Ashley has a considerable performance background and has received awards for original compositions. She is extremely enthusiastic about music and teaching!

Yvonne has been an accompanist, a church music director, and private music instructor for many years. She was an accompanist for local schools, such as Crete-Monee. Mary Kay Cannek
Piano 6 years and up
Mary teaches classical and popular piano music, which she has done for years at Melody Mart. She enjoys instructing students of all ages. Taking a fun approach to learning piano and making her students feel comfortable at the piano while they are learning is most important to her.

Kandis began her training in piano at 6 years old at the former Music Dynamics located in Downtown Chicago, where she remained for 9 years. She then matriculated to Brooks Music Studio under the leadership of Mrs. Sydonia Mae Brooks. Kandis has performed in many recitals, and performances over the years, and studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston. She looks forward to working with you!
Beginning Piano 6 years and up
Casey Knoop has been a classically trained pianist since 2002. She has since performed in various styles and groups throughout her college career. Casey’s goal is to keep lessons fun and to modify teaching techniques that are unique to each individual’s style of learning. She does this in order to keep students inspired, and never bored of material that they are working on. Casey also incorporates music theory into all of her students’ lessons so that they are able to understand scales, chords, inversions and progressions that translate throughout every genre of music. Casey is also a multi-instrumentalist and has experience with flute, guitar, percussion, and ukulele. She is currently a pianist at the Southwest Seventh Day Adventist Church in Orland Park.

Leslie is a graduate of Trinity Christian College and holds a bachelor's degree in Music Education. Leslie has been involved in music since she began taking piano lessons at six years old. After growing up immersed in church music, and a successful career teaching private piano lessons, Leslie decided to pursue her degree to further her love for music and teaching.

Tami has a Masters in Music from LSU and a Bachelor of Music from Furman University. She began teaching in 1995 and been with Melody Mart since 2001. She enjoys teaching all styles of music. She enjoys encouraging and driving her students to be the best they can.

Jordan Hawken has been a classically trained pianist since 2007 and Melody Mart is proud to have had Jordan teaching for us for nearly two years. Jordan also performs in and coaches Melody Mart's Adult Jam Band Club. She is committed to sharing her love of piano with even the youngest of aspiring musicians. She values the importance of a musical education and enjoys encouraging students to embrace learning and have fun along the way.

June has taught piano for over 40 years. She has a BA in music from NIU and a MAT in education from Olivet. She loves seeing children find the joy of creating music and developing their skills to grow as musicians. She decided to join the Melody Mart family and continues to share the joys of music with many students. She provides a fun and inviting approach to learning music.

Jayneisha prides herself on making her lessons fun, interactive, and informative. She likes her students to choose what music style they prefer in order to keep each student interested in what they're learning. She will always have you leaving with a smile!
Voice 10 years and up
Shannon recently received her degree in Vocal Performance from Illinois Wesleyan University. She has experience as a church cantor, choir musician, and with children's theater groups. She hopes to bring both her technical skill and passion for singing and music to her students!
Piano 8 years and up
April has been playing piano since she was three years old and began taking formal lessons when she was five. She taught piano in Ann Arbor, Michigan from 1999 until she completed degrees in Philosophy and English Language, Literature, and Writing and moved to Illinois in 2005. During her senior year of college, April was accepted as a private piano student of Steinway Artist Garik Pedersen and continued her musical studies. April's primary focus is classical music, but she encourages her students to explore all genres and find the music that inspires them. She works with students of all ages and levels of experience. She also proudly wears the title Mother of Cats (aka "Crazy Cat Lady") and will gladly swap cat stories upon request.
