Inspired by composer and educator Carl Orff’s belief that “Experience first, then intellectualize,” our program invites children to discover music before defining it. Through the Orff Process, children build understanding by actively engaging with sound in multiple ways—through speech and chants, movement, singing, storytelling, and playing both pitched and unpitched instruments.

Melody and rhythm are explored in what is often called an “elemental” style—natural, playful, and rooted in patterns children can feel in their bodies and voices first. Rather than following a rigid method, the Orff approach is a flexible, creative process used in music classrooms around the world.

Children are encouraged to create, improvise, move, and share ideas at their own level of understanding. In this joyful, hands-on environment, music becomes not just something they learn—but something they experience, explore, and make their own.
