A true bass guitar authority and longtime member of our music community, John brings decades of experience, unmatched knowledge, and a genuine passion for teaching to everything he does.

A graduate of Governors State University with a B.A. in Music, John has not only taught bass but lived it—playing with regional staples like The Big Boppers and sharing stages with some of Chicago’s finest blues musicians. His performing resume spans decades and includes collaborations, recording sessions, and more festivals, gigs, and jams than we can count.
John Falstrom isn’t just your average bass instructor, he’s a published author, a columnist for some of the industry’s biggest names (including Gibson Guitars, Mel Bay Publications, and BassBooks.com), and a performing and recording musician with an impressive discography and career history. But above all else, John is an educator at heart. With more than 40 years of experience and thousands of students taught, he knows how to meet every bassist right where they are and help them grow beyond what they thought was possible.
At the center of John’s legacy is his renowned book, EADG 4, a comprehensive bass method that’s become a go-to resource for players of all levels.
